Thanksgiving

Idaho time. We love it and had a great week. The kids started off with a walk to the canyon and raking leaves for grandma. The cards came out and they played all week. Emma even took down Jordan for a minute wrestling haha.

We took the kids to the museum again and they loved putting coins down the big funnel. Ryan had us all soaking up his cuteness with how much he loves the “nake” the snake was so active and he was so enthralled. Kylee had Abigail and Navy all cute this week trying new hairstyles on them.

We went to the planetarium to watch a movie in their observatory big circle screen. The kids loved learning about planets, but the screen need made me motion sick. We got to enjoy cute Hudson and Emilee before they left for Utah.

We loved seeing our besties. Navy and Grace always put a smile on Brittany and I’s face with their friendship. Navy slept over and they played non stop. Also huge shoutout to Jeff and Melissa and kids for watching ghost for us. He has a great weekend.

We did our traditional Skateland trip with the kids. They did barrel racing and we all cracked up watching them fall and push each other. We all took selfies with Ryan.
Love my family and all our fun. Ben, Taliah, Benjamin, Kylee and Grace all won. I would say our family swept the comp!

Thursday morning we all woke up to do a 5k turkey trot. My cousin Casdon and his wife Savvy surprised us and made it just in time. We love them and we’re so happy to have them for the day. Benjamin kept up for the most part with Taliah and Ben. They were the only ones who ran it. The rest of us bundled up and chatted while we walked the canyon.

Delicious food and amazing day with my family. Incredibly grateful for my grandparents, parents, aunt and uncle, cousins, sisters, husband, kids, and nieces and nephews.

The girls all surprised grandma and when it was game time we all snuck and put on her night shirts that we wore when we were little and would sleep over! We had everyone laughing and loved it. I mean those are pretty comfy shirts after all this time.
Black Friday had Taliah, Charlotte, Emma and I up at 5 to go shopping. We went to  little boutique that does free swag bags. We got Dutch bros and our chairs and blankets. We have done it for a few years now and it’s always so fun freezing our buns off and then finding cute clothes and good deals together. Grandma sewed with me and handed down some of her Christmas villages. I’m so excited to now always have a part of her in our home for Christmas. We had a great week with an early Christmas present that we picked up on the way home and that little girl will get her own post soon.

Picture time

While in Idaho we had my bestie Brittany do our pictures. We did the kids head shots to update my gallery wall and then she took some family shots for us. Always the best and so amazing! I will always love and cherish all the photos.

She had her holiday set up so we snagged a couple shots for Christmas.
All the faces and poses the kids make are so fun to look at. I love all the little smiles and quirks.

Ginger

We are in love over here. Emma got her Christmas present early of a new puppy. We were finally ready to add a little girl back into the family. Emma really wanted an Australian shepherd, without having a yard we were struggling with that active breed. She loves the color of them and while we were in Idaho we found this little Merle cocker spaniel. She is an absolute doll and so much fun. You can’t help but love on her sweet face. She has two different color eyes, one green eye and one blue eye. She is unique and we love her. Her dad was a black, grey, brown, white Merle at 20 lbs and her mom was all brown at 14 lbs. Ginger was born on September 21.

Ginger is so smart. It’s been a week and she is doing sit, down, stay and ringing the bell to outside. She aims to please and is getting lots of love from everyone. She loves going on car rides and getting all the snuggles. Boots (our cat) and her are already best friends. They chase each other and wrestle and it makes us all laugh.
Ghost and Ginger haven’t quite made it there yet. She loves him and weaves between all of his legs when he walks. She follows him everywhere. He however will get up and move if she lays by him. Haha I know he will cave to her sweet face soon enough. Emma is happy as can be and is the best puppy mommy!

Volleyball and shopping

We were back to California and this time Benjamin and I went with my bestie Lauren. We spent a whole day shopping and doing the fun things for her boutique. Then day two was filled with volleyball. We had a great weekend and came home with a filled car of goodies.

Noah has been begging for some ocean water so he could make his own salt. Lauren and I struggled a bit without getting wet because we snuck to the beach between games. Sure enough it worked though. Noah loved it and had so much fun.

November

November is here and we started off by going to see the new movie The Best Christmas Pageant ever” we all loved it and loved starting off the Holidays with seeing it. The girls and I snuck in some Christmas shopping and the pets are cuddling up close with the colder weather. Benjamin spoke in church and my parents came.

We had a Christmas movie night to watch Home Alone. We had cheese pizza, hot cocoa, caramel popcorn, treats and more. Madi and Kylee came over with all the kids. The kids all said best movie night ever. I put all my trees up and decorations and as Vernon said, “it’s like walking into the North Pole!” I said perfect!

November is birthday month so we celebrated mom and dad and Kylee and Jordan! I even brought my dad’s favorite cake back from California for him. Noah is getting excited to be in Young Men’s in January!

Noah, Navy, Jake, my mom and I all went to see wicked and absolutely loved it! We can’t wait to see it again.

Noah finished phase one of his braces. Yay for a little break before they go back on. He is looking so handsome with that beautiful smile.

Emma soccer

Emma tried out for Shadow Ridge soccer and made the JV team! Yay Emma! We have spent a lot of time in the sun watching her do what she loves. Navy comes and sets up a whole little spot for herself. Thanks to all who come and support her with us.

Our goalie got hurt towards the end of the season so Emma got some game time in as goalie with zero prep! She had some amazing saves and I’m so proud because that’s a hard position to be put in last minute. They finished the season with about even between wins, ties and losses. They all grew so much. Emma loved it and had so much fun with all the girls.

Student of the Month

Each teacher at Shadow is allowed to pick one student a month for their award. So about 50 kids get picked out of around 3500 kids. His student Council teacher Ms. Coyle picked him. We are so proud. Benjamin worked hard and did a lot of heavy lifting, literally helping around the school. The principal even pulled us aside after the event and said she always sees him helping at lunch and around the school. I love that he was recognized and the school takes the time to recognize the kids. He got a certificate, a wooden engraved plaque and a shirt. Great job Benjamin!

Navy’s trip with Benjamin

Each of the kids have had their own trip with me to California for Benjamin’s tournaments. It was finally Navy’s turn and she was so excited. This girl hung with the boys all weekend and loved every minute. We brought a few boys with us and had a fun time together.

We started at the beach where they boogie boarded. Navy built sand castles and I enjoyed watching them all and being there at the perfect time to enjoy the sunset. We lasted about an hour before it got too cold.

We enjoyed dinner for free at this restaurant on the beach from a guy wishing them luck on their upcoming tournament. We walked down Main Street and got some delicious ice cream even though we were all pretty cold.
After we got to the hotel, Navy wanted to swim in the pool there too. Her and I went and swam in the hot tub and pool while the boys played volleyball in the room over a desk. Never enough volleyball for these guys.

Halloween

We had our fun pumpkin carving night with Jeff and Melissa. The kids make us laugh and we’re having so much playing or gagging with the pumpkin guts. Melissa had it all decked out with spooky eyes, and gummy worm juice. The kids all did so well on their pumpkins making it a great night.

Our ward trunk or treat came next. Navy decided last minute to be a bear, marching her stuff bear. Noah was the Joker and we got to do some fun makeup. The kids ran around with their friends and hit all the trunks up multiple times.

This year for Noah his friends decided to do a group costume. They were the biggest group costume other than the teachers and looked adorable! They got so many compliments and really were so fun to watch.

Noah’s bestie Janie and her mom hosted the best Halloween party for the kids with all the delicious treats and food and jackpot of trick or treating candy. Janie’s dad even dressed up as Sid from Toy Story with the kids. Noah came home totally loaded with candy and had the best Halloween. I love these kids so much and the memories they are making together.

Emma and Benjamin were each off with their friends and I didn’t get any Halloween photos of them. Jake and I brought Navy to my parents trick or treating and we met up with them and the Zerkle’s. After we went and had a fire. I love sitting with my sisters and am so grateful for their friendships.

October

We started off October on our cruise and so Grandma Deedee came to stay with the kids. She spoiled them all week and the kids had a great time. The kids got to go swim at multiple pools because it was still in the 90-100’s in Vegas. They got cousin time and we are so grateful! She even took Emma, Navy and Hailey to Chris Tomlin in concert and had the best time.

Fun photos of day to day. Some days the simple ones are my favorite. The rest of the month was filled with Halloween.

Mexico Cruise

Jake and I got to go on our first real vacation! Thanks to an amazing job we headed to LA for a Seven day cruise. We gave the kids hugs and loves and off we went, its the longest we have ever been away from them. We drove straight to the cruise terminal to board our Royal Caribbean ship Navigator of the seas.  We had our suits and got our first ice cream cones and pina colada’s of many.

Our first stop was Ensenada. We were off the ship pretty early and took the shuttle into town. We decided to just walk around and shop. We were the ONLY ones not from Mexico out shopping. We got the first deals of the day everyone kept saying hahah. We scored fun souvenirs for the kids and were pretty proud of ourselves for haggling and shopping.

In the buffet there were guys that sang all the songs, but made it about its germs and washing hands. We loved how creative they were. Jake and I played mini golf and explored the ship. We had all our favorites down. Jake tried the flow rider and did really well, it’s much harder than it looks. I was too cold for that, but as soon as the afternoon sun came out we hit up the water slides. One of them goes so fast, I couldn’t even open my eyes by the end because you flew down that slide. The other one is propelled and even goes out over the ocean in a clear tube for part of it. We loved them.

We hit the shows every night. There was a singer, comedian, dance show, drone show, ice skating, broadway show and magic show. I think our favorite was the comedian. He had us laughing at both his shows we went too. It was so fun to be able to do dinner and a show every night. Even though some of the shows weren’t our favorite, there were so many and kept us entertained all seven nights.

Our second stop was Cabo San Lucas. As we ate breakfast that morning we watched seals, dolphins and even a giant manta ray doing flips out of the water. That was really neat and something I’ve never seen before. We got off the boat and walked around till we found a guy that we hired to take us around on a boat. We went out and saw pelicans rock first, it’s a lonely rock, but has so many fish everywhere, it was crazy how many fish were in that area. We saw Neptune’s finger, and lands end which is the very last part of land where the Pacific Ocean meets the sea of Cortez. We saw the pacific window which is just that where you can see through to the Pacific Ocean. We also went to lovers and divorce beach. One end is lovers beach with calm waves and the other side is divorce with rocky waves. It’s really neat both bodies of water are at one beach. The Cabo arch was beautiful. All of the rock formations were so pretty, when we left Cabo at sunset the whole view was inspiring. Definitely a perfect scene out of a movie or book.

After our boat tour we had lunch at a restaurant right on the beach with another beautiful view. We were the only ones there and got delicious tacos, nachos and drinks. Next was the beach. The water was a perfect temperature. Jake had never been in an ocean that was that blue, clear and not freezing and we loved it. We walked around town and went to Cabo dolphins, we just walked through the building upstairs to look around and they had a viewing area ten feet from the dolphins doing a whole show. I was in heaven and loved every minute, we could have sat there for much longer, but didn’t want to miss our boat. We picked up some more deals shopping and headed back.

I was really proud of myself all week. I tried new food and drinks every chance I got. Definitely will never eat some of that food again. Beef carrpaccia is probably going to live in my nightmares haha. I’m glad I’m tried so much though because I found some delicious new favorites too. Jake was in heaven eating steak every night for dinner and I got him loving virgin dauquiris as much as I do. We both loved the coconut cookies and ate those every day as well. We were excited when we found our custom order pizzas that were so good. We ate too much, but enjoyed every minute.

The next day was Mazatlan and at this point Jake and I felt like pros. We passed all the guys and explored the town ourselves. We walked quite a bit, and it was so humid so we were pretty sweaty. Our first step was a stunning cathedral. History is one of my favorite subjects and so I loved seeing all the details put into the building so long ago.

We went to the market and got the best deals o our whole trip! We were both so excited and loved seeing everything going on from food, to meat, spices, veggies, fruit, clothes, toys, sculptures and more. We filled our bags again and probably would have gone back if we had time. I even got to use the very little Spanish I know since no one spoke English.

We walked down this beautiful street with older homes that were so colorful and the designs were so creative. The humidity in the air sure makes for stunning plant life with flowers and greenery everywhere. We made it to the beach where we saw a rock formation with an ocean pool and a slide into the ocean. We watched guys jump off a cliff into what seems horribly unsafe waters, but they made it. While we were walking we passed a thriftys ice cream store front, it’s our fav so we had to get some. Jake got a little too close to the “ cave of the devil” and we saw a giant iguana going inside it. No thank you.

The last two days were ship days till we got home. Luckily neither of us got very sick. I read two books as I sat on the decks watching the ocean. There probably isn’t anything I love more. Jake hit up the gym and walking path. We met up with coworkers a few times and played Bank and Monopoly. It got intense and we had a blast. Every night we ate in the main dining room and caught up with everyone with what they did during the day. We saw dolphins swim by the ship multiple times and loved soaking up the sunshine with all our drinks and food. We both had the best time and the whole vacation could not have gone better.

We got off the boat really early in the morning and had some free time. We decided to go to downtown Disney and see all the Halloween decorations and continue are eating habits with scrumptious scones covering us in powdered sugar. We went and saw the new Joker movie which we didn’t know was a musical and it was horrendous. So horrible! We were exhausted and went to my great aunt and uncles house but got stuck in traffic for 2 1/2 hours. The next day we met with Benjamin and his team for his tournament. It was great timing that we were there and got to watch. We went to the beach and watched dolphins and enjoyed dinner with just Jake, Benjamin and I. We never have time the three of us and it meant a lot because these kids grow so fast. Benjamin’s team made first the first day and finished second the last day which put them second overall. Great end to our 10 days away from home.
